Here are the video games I’ve been playing lately. I haven’t really been gaming a whole lot recently since I’m back in school, but I have been playing more games in smaller chunks. And of course, these are all besides my perfect gaming trifecta: Skyrim, Minecraft, and Civilization V, which I have something going for at any point. :)
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
This is seriously the best game I’ve played on my Xbox One so far. I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m close. It’s such a pretty game! The variety of weapons is pretty good, and I love the fact that you can modify/customize your weapons! The environments are awesome as well. I’ve been doing another Skyrim and Mass Effect playthrough, so something more tropical is a refreshing change. I also like the Lara Croft redesign. She’s still attractive, but her body and clothing design is much more… appropriate and realistic.
LEGO: The Hobbit
I don’t have a whole lot of experience with LEGO games, other than playing LEGO Batman on my 3DS. I understand the general concept though. I will say that if I do buy another LEGO game, it’ll probably be on a console, not a handheld and certainly not for PC (I bought LEGO Lord of the Rings on a Steam sale last year, and it’s just a horrible port). Anyway, my brother and I just started playing through it. I think we left off at Bree, so we’re not very far in. It’s fun, especially with other people! I don’t have much else to say about it since I haven’t played much yet.
Let me just say that I’m horrible at basketball- in real life and especially in this game. I wanted a sports game for my Xbox One, and Madden ‘15 wasn’t out yet and there’s not a decent baseball game as far as I know even in the works (and the baseball game is the one I wanted the most, and unfortunately won’t get one for a while). The only other options were FIFA and NHL…so I picked NBA 2K14. I’ll get better eventually, but I certainly suck right now. FOR GOD’S SAKE, SOMEBODY MAKE A DECENT BASEBALL GAME FOR XBOX ONE!!
The in-game purchases in Bravely Default really pisses me off. Fortunately, you don’t need to use them to beat the game. Just wanted to get that out of the way first. Anyway; the game’s art style is pretty cool, like the first town (pictured above). The Brave/Default system is new and definitely interesting. I literally just started this the other day, so I’ll have to get back to you guys later with a more definitive opinion on this game.
